About Harbin Institute of Technology

Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT) is a national key university directly under the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China. It is part of the prestigious “211 Project,” “985 Project,” and the “Double First-Class” initiative.

Founded in 1920, HIT was initially established to train railway engineers. Over time, it has evolved into a comprehensive university with a strong focus on engineering, while also offering programs in science, humanities, management, economics, law, and medicine. HIT is widely recognized both in China and internationally as the "Cradle of Engineers."

The university has three campuses in Harbin, Weihai, and Shenzhen, covering an area of over 5,000 acres. It consists of 20 colleges, offers 89 undergraduate programs, and is home to multiple national key laboratories and research centers.
